MINISTRY OF MINING
Vac. 24/24
Post: Geologist (Grade I)
Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Mining
Qualifications:
Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Geology, Geological Engineering and Earth Sciences, obtained from accredited institutions.
Duties
(a) Demonstrating knowledge of mining related laws;
(b) Demonstrating knowledge of equipment used in Gemological Laboratory;
(c) Conducting of gemstone identification and valuation;
(d) Collecting and compilation of all data related to gemstones;
(e) Training small scale miners in gemstone identification and valuation;
(f) Facilitating the procurement of gemological Laboratory accessories; and
(g) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
