VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: ODEL TUTORS

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to be considered for various Tutor positions tenable at its Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) Centres located in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu.

Successful candidates will be required to provide tutorials to ODel students in any ONE or COMBINATION of courses listed below. Applicants should therefore indicate course(s) they may wish to be considered to provide tutorials and also their preferred centre.

d) Crop Management
e) Introduction to Livestock Management
f) General Biology
g) Botany & Biodiversity Conservation
h) Microbiology

j) Introduction to Computer Systems & Computer Applications
k) Introductory Chemistry
l) English for Academic Purposes
m) Organizational and Managerial Communication
n) College Algebra & Trigonometry and Introductory Calculus
o) Calculus & Elementary Linear Algebra and Complex Numbers
p) General Physics
q) Oscillations and Waves
r) Mechanics
s) Heat and Kinetics Theory of Gases & Circuit Theory and Basic
t) Electromagnetism
u) Introduction to Statistics

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ODEL Tutors are engaged for the purpose of assisting with delivery of courses. Duties and responsibilities of Tutors therefore include but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and review teaching and learning materials
  • Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials for a maximum of eight hours per month
    using a variety of modes of delivery.
  • Assess student performance
  • Invigilate examinations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must possess at least a BSC with CREDIT in relevant discipline obtained from a recognized university with a least two years relevant experience preferably in teaching.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT:

Successful candidates will be engaged on Part-Time basis for an initial period of one year which can be renewed based on performance. Remuneration will be in line with LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service applicable to part time employees.
