POSITION: Accountant (Intern)
Location: Lilongwe
Job Description
ECO-GROUP is looking for a dedicated and motivated Accountant / Accountant Intern to support several startups in managing their financial operations in Lilongwe. The ideal candidate will handle various accounting and finance-related tasks, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with sound financial practices.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain proper books of accounts.

Support the implementation of effective financial and accounting policies and procedures.

Maintain all ledgers in line with acceptable accounting and financial reporting principles.

Prepare payment vouchers, cheques, and maintain an incoming/outgoing cheques register.

Manage petty cash float with supporting receipts.
-
Monitor cash flow and track project activities versus targets.

Perform various bank transactions.
-
Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
-
Prepare specific project reports within prescribed timelines.
-
Compile documents to support expenditures for various projects.

Prepare timely monthly financial statements.
-
Provide financial briefings and periodic reports.

Contribute to annual budget preparation.

Maintain and implement sound administrative and internal control procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Recent graduate or currently completing a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Completed introductory accounting courses with a basic understanding of financial principles.

Strong time management skills.
-
Team player, motivated to learn, and eager to take on new challenges.

Proficient with computers and finance software programs.
-
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
-
Agile, able to work under pressure, and capable of multitasking.
