The newly established International Blantyre Cancer Centre – Diagnostic Unit, a subsidiary of the International Blantyre Cancer Centre, provides advanced laboratory and imaging services. We are seeking skilled, experienced, and self-motivated professionals to join our team and support our mission of transforming cancer care in Malawi and the region.

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Job Purpose

The Accounts Assistant will support the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of daily financial transactions, including receipting, banking, and petty cash management.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and expenditure reports.
  • Process supplier invoices, payments, and staff reimbursements promptly.
  • Support budget tracking to ensure expenditures align with approved plans.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents for easy retrieval during audits.
  • Collaborate with procurement and administration teams to ensure accurate documentation of all purchases and expenses.
  • Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with statutory financial regulations.
  • Work closely with the finance manager in preparing financial data for management reporting.

 Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a busy accounting or finance office, preferably in health or corporate settings.
  • Strong skills in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to deadlines.
