Overview

The Development wing of Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) is inviting qualified persons to fill
existing vacancies in its advocacy department as follows:

Advocacy Officer (1)

Tenable in Karonga the Advocacy officer will be responsible for the successful facilitation of the
Evangelical Association of Malawi’s advocacy and good governance programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Advocacy Coordinator, the duties of the Advocacy Officer are as follows:

  • Organize and facilitate capacity building trainings
  • Facilitate Church leaders’ policy engagement meetings with duty bearers
  • Mobilize church leaders to influence policy, press for accountability and transparency among the duty bearers.
  • Plan and execute project activities in line with the agreed goal, objectives and indicators.
  • Prepare quality activity reports-highlighting outcomes and impacts of projects
  • Monitor effective implementation of the program interventions

Required Qualifications and Experience 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Development related field, or Journalism/Communication,
    or Social Sciences
  • At least three years’ experience in planning, executing and reporting on a good governance and
    human rights projects
  • Substantial experience in qualitative report writing
  • Good experience working with Church leaders, Churches or Christian organizations

Technical Skills

  • Excellent English and Chichewa communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be a committed Christian with good standing with their local church.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team.
  • Ability to follow through and attend to details
