Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below existing in the Civil Service:

Post: Assistant Veterinary Officer (Grade K)

Salary: Within the Grade Ksalary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Agriculture

Qualifications:

Applicants should be in possession of a Diploma in any of the following fields: Veterinary Science or Animal Health and Production,obtained from recognized institutions.

Duties

(a) Conducting animal health and production activities in Extension Planning Areas (EPAs)

(b) Conducting animal disease investigations, treatments and vaccinations for various Livestock species;

(c) Preparing and implementing Annual Work Plans and their activities;

(d) Conducting meat inspections and compile a report on slaughter places;

(e) Reporting timely on suspected notifiable disease outbreaks in the area;

(f) Conducting ticks and tick control measures in the area;

(g) Encouraging formation of Livestock Development Committees (LDCs) and Milk Bulking Groups;

(h) Conducting Farm Demonstrations in animal health and production;

(i) Controlling importation and exportation of animal by products to regulate the market;

(j) Conducting vaccination campaign on diseases such as Rabies, Black Quarters and Foot and Mouth diseases;

(k) Procuring and distributing drugs, vaccines and other biological chemicals (Tuberculin and Conjugates) to farmers; and

(l) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
