Location: Blantyre, Malawi.
About Us
Humanity in Action is a Malawian local Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to alleviate suffering, restore wellbeing and dignity to victims of natural disasters, conflict and socially disadvantaged communities through provision of high-quality, timely and unbiased aid. We envision a resilient nation where all individuals live with inherent dignity free from extreme suffering and abject poverty.
The organization seeks the services of dedicated and experienced individuals to join its board of directors and help steer its mission and vision to the next level.
Position: Board Member (Voluntary)
Role Overview
We are looking for committed individuals to serve on our board of directors and provide strategic guidance, governance oversight, and support for our humanitarian and livelihood initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in quarterly board meetings and special sessions as needed.
Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development.
Support fundraising efforts and resource mobilization.
Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Advocate for Humanity in Action’s mission and values.
Provide expertise in relevant areas (healthcare, Humanitarian and Livelihoods, Legal, Finance/Admin/HR, Communications and Advocacy, Climate Change, Community and Fundraising/ Grants application).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and livelihood work.
Academically qualified to a minimum level of Bachelor’s degree. Masters level is an added advantage.
Extensive professional experience in one or more of the following areas; Healthcare, Humanitarian/ Livelihoods, Legal, Finance/Admin/HR, Communications/ Advocacy, Climate Change, Community Engagement, and Fundraising/ Grants application.
Ability to dedicate a minimum of ten hours per month to board duties.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaborative abilities.
Previous board membership experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Be willing to undergo a rigorous background check and provide a police/criminal clearance certificate after being successful.
Commitment to stay on the board for a minimum of one year.

Please note: This is a volunteer position and currently the organization does not offer any allowance or reimbursement. However, in the future resources permitting, the organization may start reimbursing all costs incurred in the course of discharging board duties. These costs may include travel and data.
Time Commitment of minimum of ten hours per month, including meetings and committee work.
