Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

A. Directorate of Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI)

Post: Chief Disease Control Officer (under Expanded Programme on Immunization)

Grade: Grade F/P5
Salary: Within the range of Grade F Salary Segment
Ref. No: P5/31
Responsible to: Deputy Director (Grade E) –Expanded Program on Immunization (National EPI Program Manager).
Location: EPI

Qualifications:

Applicants should be Principal Clinical Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Nursing Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Environmental Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Medical Officers (Grade G/P7) with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in that post. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or BSc in Nursing. A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or any other related health field is an added advantage.

Must have worked in the EPI Program at National or Regional level supporting with vaccine preventable disease control programs.

Duties:

  • Facilitate operationalization of routine immunization and ensure coverages that meet the required targets by both national and WHO guided.
  • Facilitate the development of funding proposals for the introduction of new vaccines in the country as planned in the National immunization strategy (NIS).
  • Facilitate and operationalize Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs) are planned and implemented periodically as stipulated in the strategic plan.
  • Support the preparation and dissemination of the various monthly and other regular reports on routine immunization, supportive supervision activities as required.
  • Provide guidance to plan, implement and evaluate activities aimed at increasing and sustaining immunization coverage.
  • Provide guidance in establishing a reliable immunization monitoring, supervision and information system that includes collection, analysis and use of vaccine preventable diseases immunization data.
  • Support activities aimed at strengthening partnership, advocacy and resource mobilization for improving performance of immunization activities.
  • Participate in immunization research for evidence generation.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Deputy Director responsible for Expanded Program on Immunization.
