Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:
C. Directorate of Malaria Programme
Post: Chief Disease Control Officer (under Malaria Programme)
Grade: Grade F/P5
Salary: Within the range of Grade F Salary Segment
Ref. No: P5/31
Responsible to: Deputy Director – Malaria Program
Location: Malaria Programme
Qualifications:
Applicants should be Principal Environmental Health Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Medical Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Nursing Officers (Grade G/P7), with a minimum of four (4) years’ work
experience in that post. Must be experienced in Malaria or Disease Control Program and registered with the relevant regulatory bodies in health related field.
Must be holders of Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or BSc in Nursing. Those with a Master’s Degree in Public Health or Community Health or Master’s Degree in any related health field will have an added advantage.
Duties
- Provide support in overall leadership and strategic direction for national or country-wide malaria control efforts.
- Facilitate development and implementation of long-term plans and policies to achieve malaria elimination goals.
- Support malaria policy dissemination and reinforce implementation.
- Ensure effective functionality of the Malaria Commodity Supply Chain System in the country.
- Support the Program Manager to collaborate with high-level resource mobilization for malaria control interventions.
- Ensure effective allocation and utilization of resources for malaria control programs.
- Facilitate coordination and collaboration with partners in the control of malaria in the country.
- Participate in Malaria cross border initiatives in the control of malaria.
- Supervise and provide mentorship to other Program staff.
- Represent the country or organization in global malaria control initiatives and forums.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative approaches to malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Facilitate review of the national malaria strategic plans, annual plans and individual work plans.
- Support operational research and collaborate with research institutions to contribute to evidence-based malaria control practices.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies (PMRA, Medical and Nurses and Midwives Council) in ensuring use of safe anti-malaria medicines in the country.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time.
