Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

B. Directorate of TB and Leprosy Elimination Programme

Post: Chief Disease Control Officer (under National TB and Leprosy Elimination Programme)
Grade: Grade F/P5
Salary: Within the range of Grade F Salary Segment

Responsible to: Deputy Director/Director Promotive Directorate
Location: National TB & Leprosy Elimination Program

Qualifications:

Applicants should be serving Principal Medical Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Environmental Health Officers (Grade G/P7), Principal Nursing Officers (Grade G/P7), with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in that post, working on TB and Leprosy Control Program at National level. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or BSc in Environmental Health or BSc in Public Health.

Must have a Master’s degree in Public Health or a Master’s Degree in Community Health or Master’s Degree in any related health field. The candidates must be registered with the relevant regulatory bodies in health related field.

Duties

  • Ensure all officers have achievable work plans; and that the work plans reflect all relevant active funding sources; consolidate Programs overall work plans prior to the start of a new financial year.
  • Ensure the availability of an annual work plan and budget that reflects all available funding sources and is keeping with relevant strategic documents i.e. HSSP, NIP; in collaboration with other NTLEP officers and or the deputy director or director.
  • Closely monitor the implementation of the Annual Work Plan and Budget including the implementation of remedial actions e.g. catch plans.
  • In collaboration with other officer e.g. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer ensure the updating of monitoring and evaluation framework for the NSP/NIP. Ensure periodic reviews of performance of the program and subnational units.
  • Ensure that all relevant documents e.g. nominal guidance for TB and Leprosy are updated periodically and that they reflect the most up to date evidence pertaining the control and elimination of Tuberculosis and Leprosy.
  • Ensure the periodic updating of National Strategic Plans/National Implementation Plans are periodically updated in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with other officers and departments design, implement relevant (operational) research and disseminate the findings.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new interventions or interventional packages, as they may arise.
  • Provide supervision to other program officers and technical guidance concerning tuberculosis and leprosy.
  • Based on implementation monitoring and needs assessment plan and implement on going in service capacity development through short trainings and mentoring.
  • Ensure periodic engagement with relevant stakeholders through periodic working group meetings.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned to him/her by a relevant authority.
