Overview
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below existing in the Civil Service:
Vac. 23/24
Post: Clerk of Works (Grade J)
Salary: Within the Grade J salary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Lands
Qualifications:
Applicants should be in possession of a Diploma in Structural Engineering, obtained from recognized Institutions.
Duties
(a) Inspecting construction sites regularly to ensure that the work is being performed according to the plans and within safety guidelines;
(b) Assigning workers to their tasks and supervising them throughout the construction process;
(c) Preparing construction drawings and plans according to building codes;
(d) Inspecting building materials for potential hazards such as termites or mold;
(e) Recording costs related to Labour, Equipment, Materials and other expenses for each phase of construction;
(f) Coordinating with Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers and other team members involved in a construction project;
(g) Performing site measurements to ensure that construction conforms to architectural plans
(h) Ensuring that construction materials meet required standards for quality and durability;
(i) Preparing reports on progress made on construction projects
(j) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
