The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical association of Church-owned facilities in Malawi and the Secretariat is the central coordination unit of the Association. CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi with 187 Health Facilities and 11 Training Colleges which are located in all parts of the country. Most of the Health Facilities are situated in the remote and hard-to-reach areas. The objectives of CHAM are to facilitate, provide technical support, and develop health services among all member facilities in order to achieve equity in access to health care, patient care and in all matters, to act for the benefit of the people of Malawi.

CHAM Secretariat invites applications for the positions of Communications Intern

Position : Communications Intern

Department : Business Development Unit

Reports to : Business Development Unit Manager

Purpose of the Position

To assist in executing and coordinating communication and media functions in CHAM (internal and external).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in monitoring and analysing CHAM’s media coverage and public perception.
  • Assisting in updating and implementing the CHAM communications strategies and plans.
  • Assisting in writing and editing CHAM publications and media documents in collaboration with programmes team.
  • Assisting in managing CHAM digital communication channels.
  • Assisting in scheduling and coordinating media interviews.
  • Assisting in preparation and coordination of events.
  • Assisting in the preparation of communication materials for grant proposals and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following; Journalism, Public Relations and Communications
  • Experience in social media management and content creation

Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
  • Self-starter, team player and innovative
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and internet ranking for web content
