JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Driver
Duty Station: MANASO Secretariat – Lilongwe
Position Summary:
MANASO (Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organizations) is seeking a dependable Driver for the CSS MANASO Project. The role involves safely transporting staff, volunteers, and materials to support program operations and community activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and professionalism at all times.
- Safety for Vehicle and Staff
- Transport MANASO staff, volunteers, and materials safely to designated locations.
- Strictly adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ensure all passengers wear seat belts and follow safety guidelines.
- Apply defensive driving techniques to prevent accidents and delays.
- Immediately report any road incidents or accidents to the supervisor.
- Vehicle Checks
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including oil, brakes, fuel, tire pressure, and other essential components.
- Report vehicle malfunctions or required repairs promptly.
- Ensure all vehicle documents (insurance, registration, permits) are valid and available at all times.
- Cleaning and Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Schedule and ensure regular servicing and maintenance according to recommendations.
- Keep accurate records of fuel usage, servicing, and repairs.
- Logistical Support
- Transport staff, materials, and equipment to project sites, meetings, and events.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods when needed.
- Ensure timely delivery of correspondence, supplies, and other items.
- Support community outreach programs and organizational events.
- Confidentiality
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all organization records, client information, and sensitive materials.
- Code of Conduct
- Adhere to MANASO’s policies, professionalism, punctuality, and ethical standards.
- Education Requirements
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- A valid and clean driving license (minimum Class C, with PSV an added advantage).
- At least 5 years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably with NGOs, international organizations, or corporate institutions.
- Proven experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles, including 4x4s.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of Malawi labor laws, financial regulations, and donor compliance.
- 10. Safeguarding
The candidate is expected to demonstrate commitment to safeguarding the rights of children, adolescents, women, and marginalized groups. Any person with a criminal history in relation to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, or Harassment (SEAH) will not be considered. The successful candidate will undergo police clearance and will be required to sign a declaration form to abide by MANASO’s PSEAH Policy. In addition, the successful candidate will be subject to thorough reference checks.
