Post: Economist (Grade I)

Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Department of Economic Planning and Development

Qualifications:

Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Development Economics, Agriculture Economics and Social Science (majoring in Economics), obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

(a) Analyzing and forecasting macroeconomic situation in the economy;

(b) Analyzing macroeconomic policy and programmes in relation to balance of payments, fiscal deficits and monetary developments;

(c) Analyzing public fiancé position;

(d) Participating in policy formulation on statistical priorities;

(e) Conducting general macroeconomic research and intelligence and identifying requirements for internal and external research studies;

(f) Providing advice to Government the macroeconomic situation and prospects; and

(g) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
