JOB TITLE : FINANCE MANAGER
GRADE : G
REPORTING TO : SCHOOL MANAGER
MAIN PURPOSE
TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ATTAINMENT OF THE SCHOOL’S BUSINESS OBJECTIVES BY:
- Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that School remains financially resilient and that all its commitments are met.
- Developing all necessary policies, procedures and controls to ensure sound financial management which will contribute to the overall school’s high quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Drive the financial planning of the school by analyzing its performance and risks.
- Ensure strict budgetary control.
- Retain constant awareness of the school’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
- Ensure sound risk management protocols are in place and applied diligently.
- Ensure corporate governance procedures, policies and internal controls are in place and are adhered to.
- Ensure strict adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Set up and oversee in conjunction with the IT specialists the school’s finance IT system.
- Provide effective leadership and supervision for all personnel in the finance department.
- Set targets and KPIs for the department as well as for all finance personnel.
- Prepare timely detailed monthly and quarterly management accounts reports on financial performance.
- On a quarterly basis or whenever required, prepare Board Papers on financial position performance of the school.
- Prepare timely annual financial statements.
- Ensure the external audit is completed at the end of the fourth month after the end of each financial year.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years’ financial management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., Quick Books or Sage)
- An analytical mind with a strategic ability
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Good time – management skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
