Position title
Head of Procurement
Purpose

The Head of Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies and processes that will ensure supply continuity within the agreed quality specifications and cost effectiveness for purchase of goods and services.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Head of Procurement, will be required to carry out the following duties, among others:

  • Develop and implement strategies that will align with the company objectives and direction in the supply chain.
  • Define and monitor efficiency, effectiveness and success of the procurement activities using adequate controlling tools/ tracking tools (weekly Purchase order tracker, Monthly stock cover report).
  • Assure compliance with applicable laws, ethical standards, policies and codes of business conduct.
  • Develop an annual savings plan based on a review of Procurement spend and opportunities (80/20 pareto analysis).
  • Manage company suppliers by building good business relationships, at the same time ensuring that suppliers comply to quality standards and contract terms.
  • Negotiate favorable terms in business deals with suppliers to strike advantageous agreements but not overlooking regulations and ethical standards.
  • Monitor and continually benchmark prices of key goods and services with focus on top spend items.
  • Ensure localization of key materials where possible and utilization of locally based transporters to reduce the proportion of foreign goods and services.
  • Manage the supply of goods and services according to production plan, being alert to ensure zero plant stoppage due to out of stocks.
  • Ensure continuous improvement by suppliers through conducting supplier evaluations and audits; and together with the suppliers put up corrective actions.
  • Identify risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Qualifications

The ideal candidates should have, at least the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, or Business Administration, plus 5 years’ experience at senior managerial level, preferably, in an FMCG Industry.
  • Must be a member of the MIPS

Key Competencies

  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to negotiate favorable terms and pricing in contracts.
  • Ability to manage and sustain stakeholders’ relationships
  • Good understanding of cross-border business operations.
  • Good understanding of production schedules.
