Job Summary:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy environment in assigned areas. This role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, ensuring that all rooms and common areas meet established cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise housekeeping staff by assigning tasks, monitoring progress and providing guidance to the residential staff.
• Ensuring cleanliness standards by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the residential area.
• Inspecting rooms and the residential area by conducting regular inspections to ensure rooms and areas are clean and well maintained
• Maintaining records, by keeping accurate records of cleaning schedules, inventory and staff performance.
• Training staff by providing training to housekeeping staff on clean procedures, safety protocols and customer service.
• Budget Management by managing housekeeping budget and making recommendations for cost saving initiatives
• Quality control by implementing quality control measures to ensure high standards of services
• Safety and security by following safety protocols and procedures.
• Communication by communicating effectively with other staff members.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience as a housekeeper or in a similar role preferred.
• Leadership skills, having the ability to supervise and motivate staff
• Problem solving skills, ability to handle complaints and issues efficiently.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
• Good time management skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy items.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

• Certificate in Hospitality Management those with a Diploma will have an added advantage.
• Minimum: Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
• With 5 years’, experience in House Keeping as well as laundry.

Working Conditions

• May be required to work weekends or evenings.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods.
