Laboratory Technician

Introduction

Seed Co Malawi Limited, a leading producer and supplier of superior crop seeds of maize, soya, sugar beans, rice, and vegetables seek to recruit an interested, capable, and experienced Laboratory Technician to be reporting to the Quality Assurance Officer

Minimum Requirements

1. University degree in Agriculture or Lab Science 2. Two years’ experience as a Laboratory Technician.

Responsibilities

1. Sampling seed, planting, and evaluation of the samples
2. Carry out seed analyses-germination test, vigour test, purity analysis, defects analysis, moisture test and soil emergence test
3. Ensuring accurate and timeous reporting of the analysis results for all the submitted samples.

4. Controlling of all documents in the laboratory and ensuring that they are kept safely.
5. Ensure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
6. Keeping records of general maintenance of laboratory equipment i.e. incubators balances, their calibration and servicing.
7. Preparation of submitted Genetic Purity Test (GPT) samples.
8. Be part of the team during Quality Assurance audits.
9. Adhering to all Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) procedures in the lab.
