Lecturer – Early Childhood Development (ECD)

VACANCY: ECD LECTURER – OPEN EYE SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Open Eye Private Schools is expanding! Our new tertiary department – Open Eye School of Professional Studies – is seeking qualified, dynamic, and motivated lecturers to join our team. We offer both local and internationally recognised programmes including ECD, ABMA, ABE and ICAM

POSITION: Lecturer – Early Childhood Development (ECD)

Location: Blantyre

Type: Part-Time / Full-Time

Start Date: January 2026 (or earlier)

Key Responsibilities

• Teach modules under the Certificate in Early Childhood Development programme.
• Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment tools.
• Facilitate both theoretical and practical learning sessions.
• Supervise students during practicum and prepare evaluation reports.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous programme improvement.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, child safeguarding, and academic integrity.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of Diploma in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related field (for Certificate-level teaching).
• Strong understanding of Malawi’s ECD curriculum, child development, and play-based pedagogy.

Added Advantages:

• Bachelor’s Degree in ECD/Education or Social Sciences.
• Experience teaching in an ECD centre or tertiary institution.
• Experience supervising student practicum.
• Knowledge of inclusive education and child protection.

Key Competencies

• Passion for working with young children and training future caregivers.
• Ability to create and use teaching and learning materials (TLMs).
• Strong communication, mentorship, and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and ethical standards.
