Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor in Biology Education

The University of Malawi hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for an academic position in the Department of Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education. One (1) position is available at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor in Biology Education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for the position of Lecturer must possess:
• A Master of Education Degree in Biology Education, and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Biology, obtained with credit or distinction from a university accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
• Candidates holding a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology, along with a University Certificate in Education, may also be considered.
• Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in Biology at the secondary school level.
• In addition to the requirements for Lecturer, applicants for Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor must provide evidence of published research in reputable peer-reviewed journals in the field of Biology Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Teach Biology Education courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Prepare, administer, and assess assignments, projects, and examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students in a timely manner;
• Supervise and examine postgraduate students undertaking studies in Biology and Biology Education;
• Supervise students during teaching practice placements;
• Undertake research, consultancy, and community outreach activities;
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
