We are hiring for the following position:
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Duty Station: Blantyre
Duration: 12 months (subject to renewal depending on performance and availability of funding)

WASTE Advisers now seeks the services of a highly motivated Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer to support programme/project implementation. The M&E officer will work under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Programmes (DoP). The officer will be expected to attend to all M&E activities across all projects implemented by the organization.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The MEAL Officer will support internal project performance and learning, and shall:
• Prepare timely progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with accurate data.
• Support the DoP in review meetings, steering committee sessions, and preparation of required reports.
• Coordinate the annual work planning process and consolidate project work plans and budgets.
• Assist in conducting project studies, assessments, and special reports.
• Prepare stakeholder and donor reports as needed.
• Conduct field monitoring visits for data verification and situational analysis.
• Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the DoP.

Performance Assessment Criteria

Performance will be assessed based on:
• Timeliness and quality of progress reports.
• Quality and completeness of field monitoring reports.
• Accurate consolidation of annual work plans and budgets.
• Quality of special studies and technical reports.

Reporting

The MEAL Officer reports directly to the Director of Programs (DoP).

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Project Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in M&E or data management.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in data collection tools (Google Forms, Kobo Toolbox, ODK, mWater).
• Strong ability in statistical software (SPSS, R, or Stata) and excellent command of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data and produce clear donor-ready reports.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work across multi-sectoral environments.
• Excellent planning, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong report writing and conceptual thinking abilities.
• High motivation, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
• Motorbike licence preferable (for field verification visits).
