Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator
Location: Mwanza District, Blantyre Division
Reporting to: Head of Development Services


About the Organization

The Salvation Army Malawi Territory is implementing the Titukulane Project in Mwanza District, building on the positive outcomes and lessons learned from the previous Tiyeni Tisamalirane (Let’s Help One Another) Project in Mwanza and Chiradzulu.

The Titukulane Project takes a holistic approach to community development, enhancing OVC well-being while focusing on food security, sustainable agriculture, economic empowerment, and community-based child protection systems. Its overall goal is to improve the well-being, safety, and development of OVCs by establishing strong child protection systems and equipping caregivers with the skills and resources they need to provide quality care.


Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator to join our team. The MEAL Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of our programs, while promoting accountability and learning across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with project staff and partners to develop and implement robust MEAL systems that contribute to evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks, indicators, tools, and reporting mechanisms.

  • Coordinate and ensure systematic, accurate, ethical, and gender-sensitive data collection.

  • Lead data analysis (quantitative and qualitative) to assess performance, trends, outcomes, and impacts.

  • Facilitate review meetings with staff and partners to share MEAL findings, lessons, and recommendations.

  • Support baseline surveys, midterm reviews, and end-of-project evaluations.

  • Strengthen accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaints systems.

  • Document and disseminate best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.

  • Provide technical support and build staff/partner capacity on MEAL methodologies and tools.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Demography, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • At least five (5) years’ experience in monitoring, evaluation, and/or accountability roles, preferably in agriculture, humanitarian aid, health, or development.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and present quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Proficiency in MEAL tools/software (e.g., DHIS2, ODK, SPSS, STATA).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

  • Good health and ability to travel extensively, locally and internationally.

  • Commitment to accountability, transparency, and learning principles.

  • Fluency in English, Chichewa, and other local languages.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
