COMFWB Malawi is a Federation of National Association of business women in Malawi with the objectives of promoting programs that (a) integrate women into Trade and development activities in all sectors of Entrepreneurship (b) improve the economic conditions of women and (c) increase awareness of women in development activities and policies affecting them.

COMFWB implements special programs for women small, medium, and micro enterprises (MSMEs) which creates or support them to have access to Markets, finance and technologies. With this support, SMMEs become competitive and able to effectively participate in the Regional Common Market.

Our Strategic Goals for the coming 3 years for the Chapter include:

(i) Organization growth and Development; ii) Development of Women, their products and Enterprises; iii) Create opportunities for women access to affordable finance; iv) Linkages and Networking
with organization with same objectives in Women economic empowerment (v) Advocacy; and vi) Creating opportunities to access to market for our members. Our Membership are women in business groups, women led and owned Associations and Cooperatives in various entrepreneurship sectors across Malawi.

VACANCY: NATIONAL PROGRAMMES DIRECTOR

JOB TITLE: National Programme Director

DUTY STATION: Lilongwe, Malawi

CONTRACT DURATION: 1 year Contract

REPORTING TO: The Chairperson of Malawi Chapter

1.1. SCOPE OF WORK

The National Programmes Director will be responsible for providing effective leadership in the development, execution, and evaluation of COMFWB Malawi Chapter’s nationwide initiatives. This role involves strategic planning, team management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective implementation and impact of the Chapters programs. The Director will collaborate with
internal and external partners, drive resource mobilization efforts, and foster a culture of innovation within the team, ultimately contributing to the achievement of the Chapter’s organizational mission and goals.

1.2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and articulate comprehensive national programs strategy aligned with the COMFWB Malawi’s overall mission and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and expansion to address emerging needs and challenges.
  • Ensure that the national programs align with COMFWB Malawi’s long-term goals and vision.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of national programs to achieve defined goals and objectives.

1.3. POFFESSIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

  • Must possess demonstrated qualities of success in leadership and management and must be able to manage and embrace change, proactively manages risks and lead operational improvements;
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with persons from diverse disciplines, perspectives and cultures;
  • Must be of unblemished character and have a high degree of personal integrity, and must be of mature and sober judgement;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be a team player who can inspire, direct and motivate staff;

1.4. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a holder of at least a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Science, Business Administration or Finance, International development, advanced development studies and other related fields including first degree from reputable universities;
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years proven relevant experience in top managerial positions in reputable organization(s);
  • Qualified women, with the requisite experience, are strongly encouraged to apply.
