Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below existing in the Civil Service:

Post: Occupational Safety and Health Officer (Grade I)
Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Labour
Qualifications:
Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Health and Environmental Sciences obtained from accredited institutions.
Duties
(a) Inspecting workplaces to ensure that the working environment is safe without risks to workers’ health, the general public and environment;
(b) Investigating noticeable occupational accidents, occupational diseases and prescribing remedial measures where necessary;
(c) Examining pressure vessels to ensure that they are safe to use;
(d) Inspecting site to determine suitability for storage of petroleum products;
(e) Executing organized monthly inspection programs
(f) Scrutinizing and approving drawing plans for buildings and works of engineering construction; and (g) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
