Orthopaedic Clinical Technician

Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for the following vacancies existing in all Central Hospitals:

Job Title: Orthopaedic Clinical Technician

Grade: K/TO
Salary: Within the Grade K salary segment
Responsible to: Senior Orthopedic Clinical Technician (Grade J)

Location: Lilongwe Institute for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery (LION) Under Kamuzu Central Hospital

Qualifications

• Applicants must be in possession of Diploma in Clinical Medicine with training  in Orthopaedics and must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.

Duties

• Attends to Orthopedic cases in out-patient department.
• Conduct ward rounds of admitted patient to ensure patients are getting the optimum
  care.
• Treats Orthopedic cases according to evidence-based practices and following LION
• Standard Treatment Guidelines.
• Performs minor orthopedic procedures i.e.
• Plaster of Paris (POP) application, Fracture and joint manipulation under anesthesia, debridement, joint aspiration etc.
• Triage specialized orthopedic cases and consult in timely manner.
• Assists in both minor and major operations;
• Ensures proper documentation of patient’s data and keeping registers up to  date to improve patient care.
• Ensures timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders including timely submission of IMIS report to the designated supervisor.
• Promote culture of patient safety to prevent unnecessary medical errors occurring to patient’s while accessing medical care at LION.
• Any other duties assigned.
