Background

The Diocese of Karonga, through the Education Desk Office, has the mandate of providing quality, efficient, and effective education to the people it serves within its jurisdiction. In line with this mission, the Diocese established St. Denis Catholic Primary School for Boys and Girls (Co-education). The school is located in Karonga District, between the District Education Manager’s Office and Karonga CCAP Church (formerly Lusubilo Private School).

Following this background, the Diocese of Karonga is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position below:


Position: Primary School Teachers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and records of work.

  • Prepare adequate teaching and learning materials.

  • Ensure and maintain a conducive learning environment for students.

  • Teach and assess students using appropriate methodologies.

  • Maintain teaching and assessment records effectively.

  • Involve students in extra-curricular activities.

  • Assist school authorities in maintaining and enforcing school rules and regulations.

  • Keep scholastic records, registers, and other learners’ records.

  • Provide guidance and counselling to learners.

  • Take care of and manage school property.

  • Follow up on students’ performance and behavior, and report to parents, guardians, and relevant authorities.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must possess a professional teaching certificate obtained from a recognized education institution.

  • Knowledge of Catholic Social Teachings is a must.

  • Must be very passionate about the teaching profession.

  • Must have proven teaching experience.
