Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

Post: Principal Disease Control Officer (Under Expanded Programme on Immunization)
Grade: G/P7
Salary: Within the range of Grade G Salary Segment
Ref.No: P7/34
Responsible to: The Chief Disease Control Officer (Grade F/P5).
Location: EPI

Qualifications:

Applicants should be Senior Clinical Officers (Grade H/P8), Senior Nursing Officers (Grade H/P8), Senior Environmental Officers (Grade H/P8), Senior Medical Officers (Grade H/P8) with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in that post. Must be knowledgeable in vaccine preventable disease and vaccine safety surveillance, either at the National or Regional EPI Office. Must be a holder of
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Nursing or its equivalent.

Those with Master’s degree in Environmental Health or Public Health or Epidemiology will have an added advantage.

Duties

  • Plan and implement vaccine supply procurement, logistics and vaccine management aimed at increasing and sustaining immunization coverages.
  • Conduction of regular supply chains and logistics technical working group systems for quantification and forecasting or vaccines and vaccine ancillaries.
  • Facilitate routine supply chain management systems at National, Regional vaccine stores.
  • Supervise the vaccine distribution and logistics at district vaccine store as well as Health Centre level and promote stock management.
  • Ensure inventory management of vaccine management equipment.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to him/her.
  • Ensure vaccine safety protocols are followed and strengthened.
  • Collaborate with vaccine preventable disease surveillance protocols are followed and strengthened.
