Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

Post: Principal Disease Control Officer (Under National TB and Leprosy Elimination Programme)
Grade: G/P7
Salary: Within the range of Grade G Salary Segment

Responsible to: The Chief Disease Control Officer
Location: National TB and Leprosy Elimination Program

Qualifications:

Applicants should be Senior Environmental Health Officers (Grade H/P8), Senior Nursing Officers (Grade H/P8), Senior Environmental Officers (Grade H/P8), with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience on TB and Leprosy Control at National Level. Must e registered with the relevant regulatory bodies in health-related field. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or BSc in Environmental Health or BSc in Nursing and Midwifery or BSc in Public Health. Those with a Master’s Degree in Community Health or Master’s Degree in any related health field will have an added advantage.

Duties

  • Should be able to plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate activities in line with the annual work plan and budget as well as the national strategic plan.
  • Coordinate and supervise activities at national level.
  • Participate in resource mobilization initiatives.
  • Conduct training for the districts.
  • Design and carry out operational research.
  • Should be involved in designing program interventions.
  • Should be able to translate scientific evidence into policies and guidelines.
  • Should be able to offer technical guidance on disease control and elimination strategies.
  • Consolidate reports from subordinates and make necessary recommendations and actions for the program and concerned program officers.
  • Write and compile national reports in corroboration with M&E.
  • Organise and conduct review meetings.
  • Reports to the chief disease control officer.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to him from time to time.
