Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

Post: Principal Disease Control Officer (Under Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs))
Grade: G/P7
Salary: Within the range of Grade G Salary Segment

Responsible to: The Chief Disease Control Officer
Location: Ministry of Health Headquarters

Qualifications:

Applicants should be Senior Disease Control Officers (Grade H/P8), with a minimum of four (4) years at that grade. Must have worked in one of the Neglected Tropical Diseases Program at National Level.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, a Degree in Environmental Health or Epidemiology or any other related degree obtained from recognized institutions. Those in possession of a Master’s in Public Health, Masters in Environmental Health, Masters in Community Health and Development, Masters in Epidemiology or any other health related Master’s Degree will have an added advantage.

Duties

  • Collaborate with Chief Disease Control Officer in the administration and management of Neglected Tropical Diseases section.
  • Assist in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of NTD section activities.
  • Assist in development of research proposals in Social and Behaviour
  • Change and the execution of the research including dissemination and publication of research results.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets for the section.
  • Assist in development of a man power skills in NTD section through trainings and courses.
  • Preparation of reports and other documentation for submission to authorities.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Conduct supporting supervision on assigned personnel.
  • Compile a consolidated plan for disease prevention, control and surveillance in a particular district.
  • Conduct Training Needs Assessment of staff pertaining to disease prevention, control and surveillance.
  • Facilitate training of staff pertaining to disease prevention, control and surveillance.
  • Mobilise resources pertaining to disease prevention, control and surveillance.
