Overview

The Hunger Project Malawi (THP-Mw) is a branch of the Global Hunger Project, currently
working in Blantyre, Chikwawa, Dedza, Neno, Ntcheu, Salima, Zomba, Phalombe and Nsanje
districts has received funding from The Latter-Day Saints Charity Organization of United States
of America to facilitate implementation of a project that is aimed at ‘Ensuring Sustainable
Nutrition for Mothers and Under Five Children through Community Led MMS,ENA and WASH.
The project will be implemented in Traditional Authority Pemba, Salima for a period of one year.
The Hunger Project Malawi would like to recruit key staff with relevant skills and experience to
work in the project for successful implementation. The key positions to be recruited are:

Project Coordinator

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitating implementation of Nutrition project activities in Salima – Pemba catchment area
  • Conducting Vision Commitment and Action village-based workshops to influence mind set change towards good nutrition practices
  • Mobilizing communities to implement various nutrition project activities in the participating villages
  • Working with various nutrition and WASH animators, frontline workers and nutrition promoters in making sure that the project targets are achieved.
  • Collaborate with DHO and Pemba Health Center in charge to facilitate the micronutrient
    supplementation program
  • Collecting relevant data on progress of projects in villages where nutrition project activities are being implemented
  • Supervising and monitoring all activities carried out by nutrition animators in project sites
  • Organizing field visits by key project stakeholders such as District Executive Committee, Donors and others
  • Representing THP Malawi at DNCC, ANCC/ADC level and Area Executive Committee level on Agriculture, WASH and Nutrition project related matters
  • Producing monthly, quarterly reports and other reports and ensure timely submission to the Head of Programs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • The applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related field
    from a recognized university with a minimum of 3 years work experience in Nutrition and WASH related intervention projects
  • Should have strong community mobilization and facilitation skills
  • Should be self-motivated and willingness to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong reporting skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work and stay in impact areas
  • Able to ride a motorbike and posses a valid motor cycle riding license.
