Job Vacancy

WOLREC has secured new funding from TROCAIRE to implement a two-year project titled: Socio-economic Empowerment of Women in Chikwawa. The overall outcome of the project is to improve the lives of women and their families in 10 rural communities in southern Malawi. It has two major objectives which include women, their families, and communities living in poverty have increased income and food security as well as women have increased voice and leadership in formal and informal decision-making structures. WOLREC seeks services of the following:


Project Officer (Based in Chikwawa)

The Project Officer is responsible for the successful implementation of the whole proposed action in the impact district of Chikwawa. She/He will be supervised by a Program Manager.

Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Developing the capacity of project participants about increased access to financial services.

  • Conducting capacity building activities for project participants to have increased voice and leadership in formal and informal decision-making structures.

  • Conducting monitoring visits to VSLAs.

  • Ensuring timely development of monthly progress reports.

  • Following up on project participants’ progress and documenting success stories.

  • Monitoring and evaluating project activities to meet targets.

  • Reviewing and consolidating data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

  • Developing monthly and quarterly implementation plans.

  • Organizing quarterly, bi-annual, and annual progress reviews with staff and stakeholders.

  • Representing the project in technical meetings and sharing lessons learned.

  • Developing synergies with like-minded organizations.

  • Participating in district and donor meetings.

  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications, Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Community Development, or Rural Development.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience.

Skills

  • Self-starter/motivated

  • Able to work under minimum supervision

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills
