1. Malawi Defence Force is inviting suitably qualified candidates who upon successful completion of training as Officer Cadets and Recruits at Malawi Armed Forces College, will join Malawi Maritime Force.

2. Those who successfully complete the training for Officer Cadets will be commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant (Crade H) and Recruits, will be Private Soldiers (Grade L).

3. The following are the requirements:

a. Must be Malawian citizens with a valid National Identity Card
b. Must have no criminal record
c. Must be between 18 and 24 years for Recruits and between 22 and 26 years for Officer Cadets
d. Must not be less than 165cm tall for men and 158cm tall for women.
e Must be single and without children
f Must be physically, mentally and medically fit
g. Must be prepared to undergo intensive physical and medical examinations
h Must be one who has not served in any National Security Organisation
i Must be prepared to undergo intensive military training

4 Those applying as Officer Cadets should have a First Degree from an accredited Institution of Higher Learning and any of the following qualifications

a. Nautical studies;
b. Marine Engineering
c. Hydrographic Survey and Seamanship,

5. Those applying as Recruits must have a minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with six (6) credits, including English, Mathematics, other Science subjects and any of the following qualifications

a. Malawi Muster Class IV
b. Able Seamanship Certificate
c. Radar Technician Certificate
