Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below existing in the Civil Service:

MINISTRY OF LABOUR

Post: Research and Employment Officer (Grade I)

Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Ministry of Labour

Qualifications:

Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Statistician,
Demography, Economics and Social Research, obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

(a) Carrying out labour market analysis;

(b) Tracking job creation;

(c) Analyzing monthly reports that have market data;

(d) Leading in the mobilization of employment services;

(e) Participating in surveys and research work undertaken by the Ministry such as the Labour Force surveys and National Child Labour Surveys Managing internship and volunteering programmes;

(f) Managing internship and volunteering programmes;

(g) Generating Government position paper on the review of the statutory minimum wage in conjunction with the Department of Economic Planning and Development;

(h) Participating in the running of labour export programme;

(i) Participating in the monitoring and evaluation of the Ministry’s performance;

(j) Preparing policy and strategy papers of the Ministry on employment and human capital
development; and

(k) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
