Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

Post: Senior Disease Control Officer (Under Malaria Programme)

Grade: H/P8
Salary: Within the range of Grade H Salary Segment
Ref. No: P8/26
Responsible to: The Principal Disease Control Officer (Grade G/P7).
Location: Malaria Programme

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be Environmental Health Officers (Grade I/PO), Nursing Officers (Grade I/PO), with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in that post. Must have worked at Malaria Control Programme or any other disease control programs at National Level. Must be registered with the relevant regulatory bodies in health-related field. Must have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or BSc in Environmental Health or BSc in Nursing or BSc in Public Health. Those with a Master’s Degree in Public Health or a Master’s Degree in Community Health or Master’s Degree in any related health field will have an added advantage.

Duties

  • Support the Principal Disease Control Officer in the planning and supervision of the Malaria Control Interventions.
  • Support coordination and supervision of malaria control activities at the regional or district level.
  • Support development and implementation of malaria prevention and control strategies in collaboration with other health professionals and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of malaria control programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to subordinate staff on malaria control interventions.
  • Conduct training sessions for healthcare workers and community health workers on malaria diagnosis, and preventions.
  • Collaborate with national health authorities to ensure adherence to malaria control policies and guidelines.
  • Analyze data and trends related to malaria cases and vector surveillance to inform decision making.
  • Liaise with local communities and community-based organizations to promote malaria awareness and behavior change.
  • Participate in research and studies related to malaria control and contribute to scientific publications and reports.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on malaria control activities to management and stakeholders.
  • Provide support for resource mobilization for the national malaria control program.
  • Participate in cross border meetings.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.
