Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for
the following vacancies existing under the establishment of Ministry of Health:

Post: Senior Disease Control Officer (Under National TB and Leprosy Elimination Programme)

Grade: H/P8
Salary: Within the range of Grade H Salary Segment
Ref. No: P8/26
Responsible to: The Principal Disease Control Officer (Grade G/P7).
Location: National TB and Leprosy Elimination Program

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine, or BSc in Environmental Health or BSc in Nursing and Midwifery or BSc in Public Health. Must be registered with the relevant regulatory bodies in health related field. Those with a Master’s Degree in Public Health or a Master’s Degree in Community Health or a Master’s Degree in any related health field will have an added advantage.

Duties

  • Should be able to plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise activities at national level.
  • Conduct training for the districts and other targeted subnational units.
  • Carry out operational research.
  • Should be able to assist (supervisor) in synthesize evidence into policies and guidelines.
  • Should be able to offer technical guidance on disease control and elimination strategies.
  • Write interventional and or activity reports in line with annual work plan and budget; participate in the writing of annual reports or any other relevant reports.
  • Compile quarterly reports into one technical annual report.
  • Organise and conduct review meetings.
  • Reports to the Principal Disease Control Officer.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.
