Job Overview

The Surveyor will be responsible for conducting advanced surveying tasks, assessing ground levels, calculating earthwork quantities, staking out blast patterns, supervising junior staff, and providing accurate data to support mining operations.

The Role

• Conduct field surveying using electronic total stations, precise levels, GPS technology, and computers.
• Perform check-surveys of existing ground levels using total stations.
• Calculate quantities for bulk earthworks, including mining activities, roads, trenches, and related works for monthly or final certification.
• Accurately stake out blast patterns.
• Supervise and guide junior survey staff, assigning tasks according to required skill levels.
• Liaise with management and provide technical input as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution.
• Previous practical experience in surveying.
• Ability to work with surveying equipment from various manufacturers.
• Computer literacy.
• Elementary or Advanced Surveying Certificate.
• Knowledge of opencast mining practices is an added advantage.
• Valid Class B Malawi driver’s license.
• Must be medically fit.
