VACANCY
POST: PRISON RECRUITS WARDER/WARDRESS (GRADE N)
Applications are invited from suitable qualified Malawians to undergo a minimum of nine (9) months training that will lead to a post of Warder/Wardress (Grade L). During the training candidates will be eligible for an initial salary of grade N scale segment.
Qualifications
The eligible candidates should shave the following:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- Malawian nationality.
- Be physically and mentally fit
- No any criminal record.
- Height range of 1.66- 1.68m.
- Be between ages of 18 to 30 years old and single
- National Identity Card
- Successful applicants shall undergo medical examination.
Duties
- Maintaining the safe custody of inmates, the security of the prison facility premises and property;
- Facilitating the provision of rehabilitative and reformative programmes;
- Escorting inmates to and from the court, other prison centres, police station, hospital, long distant party or any lawful escort;
- Conducting searches on contraband or prohibited articles in prisons;
- Patrolling and offering surveillance services around prison centre premises;
- Entering and maintaining the gatekeeper’s, visitors’ and daily state parade books;
- And any other duties assigned from time to time.
Those in possession of any of the following diploma or certificate will have an added advantage:
- Technical Vocation Education, Social Work, Teaching, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nutrition and Food Security or Nursing.
